It is not common to group turtles into age groups like this since most of the key episodes of a turtle's life are based more on size then age alone.
The groupings we usually use are:
- Hatchling, birth to about 6 months, usually needs a more protective habitat and simpler diet. Hatchling Russians need a fairly high humidity.
- Yearling or Juvenile, about 6 months to about 18 months. Usually treated about 1/2 way between a hatchling and an adult.
- Young Adult, in most turtles would be about 2 to 4 or 6 years old. Adult diet and enclosure, although many turtles still need to be separated by size for protection.
- Breeding Adult generally occurs about 4 to 6 years for many species.
- 'Old' Adult would be one past reproductive years- about 20 for many species. Turtles in this group often begin to show several illness and spend more and more time being less and less active.
