my red eard slider turtle stays at the bothom of the tank and im afride it might drown so i put a little bit of water but the water is over the turtle. her neck can come up to get air when shes on the bottom of the tank.
Answers:
yes all aquatic turtles can swim. they love to. dont be afraid to put a lot more water in your tank than that. the turtle will come up for air when it needs to. they can hold their breath for quite some time.maybe your turt is nervous around you so you dont always see her surface? that is possible...and as others have said do make sure you have a basking area for her to come out completely of the water with the proper lighting above it.
All turtles can swim. It's best when you put something in their tank so that they can climb out when they want but it is not necessary for them to breathe.
All turtles can swim. They do not drown.
But they are happy to get out of the water once in while.
Best to put a rock in the tank higher than the water level, so the turtle can perch on it once in a while.
DON'T WORRY! they are made to swim and can hold their breath for hours.
yes ALL turtles are born knowing how to swim
Course they all can! my RES wouldnt swim at first and would just sit on the bottom of the tank, but after a while once they are used to it they swim around, but if they dont start swimming means the water temp is either too high or low
