Bark in snake cage?

I have bark in my snake cage but am wandering how to get rid of mites that r in bark i think they are hiding under so i cant get them all. also have shavings
Answers:
DONT USED THIS CRAP .BUY A REPITLE CARPET ,... THERE CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN !!!
Throw out all the bark and get new substrate, its cheaper to by compressed bricks of coconut substrate but be sure its acceptable for your type of snake
And seek a vets advice about the mites
heres my advice for a mites question i just answered
You need to spray your snake daily with reptile relief
read/follow the directions and talk to a vet before you use any medication like reptile relief
and be sure to wash your hands regularly before and after handling you snake, and make sure you don't get infested yourself.

Also throw out the substrate in your current tank and till the mites are gone use paper towels and change them daily

Check with a vet for brands and type of suitable substrate for the time you are using reptile relief

MITES are very serious you need to speak to a vet soon and get them taken care of

Also you should clean your snakes cage more often that could be the cause of the mites
Get rid of the bark . It can also cause impactions and mouth rot . Completly disinfect the cage and then use news paper or a good reptile carpet if you want a healthy snake . You might want to get Prevent-A Mite and use as dirrected . May take several applications ( not on the snake , the cage ). Spraying the snake daily can cause scale rot , I would not recomend that .It really does not help much . You can give your snake a warm bath with a drop of dawn dish soap , rince well to get rid of the mites .
i had to clean my royal ball pythons tank yesterday and i have bark all i did was put my snake in a clean container clean his full tank out, what i did was i put his hiding place in my kitchen sink poured boiling water on it out of the kettle left it for an hour i put all the wood chippings in a big pan and done the same with that and left it for about 2 hours do the same with his water bowl then i cleaned the full tank out with warm soapy water left that for 10 mins then i done it again then i wiped it dry with kitchen toweling if your snake has mites on him/her put him/her in the bath for about 10-20 mins and they will come of him/her i hope this is good advice try it, it worked for me good luck
