As long as they are captive bred, pythons are not generally aggressive. We have a ball python that's very tame. Be sure they're captive bred, not just captive hatched from wild eggs, that way you know they're bred for good temperament.
There are ways to prevent them from developing aggressive tendencies. Make sure your hands are clean when you handle the snake. If you have the smell of your breakfast on your fingers, they might mistake them for food. You can also feed them on Arctic Mice or other frozen feeders. (thaw them first, of course.) Having to strike and kill live food teaches them aggression they don't develop when fed on Arctic Mice. Getting the python used to being handled at an early age will also be a great help. Be sure to take the snake out and let it slither around on your arms at least once a day, unless it's just eaten or shed the say before. They need to rest on those days.
Retics have a reputation of being more aggressive than the other species of large snake. Constant handling from the time it's small is required to avoid being bitten by a potentially 18 ft. snake. And you'll probably still get nailed if you're not careful. Feeding responses with some of these animals is impressive. That's why animals over 6 ft. require more than one person when handling or feeding. The rule is one person for every 6 ft. Never handle or feed a large python or boid without someone there with you.

Burmese pythons are very non aggresive and docile, seeing as I have baby one on my lap right now!! My cousin's... Anyway- retics might be a tad bit more so but like most snakes, it'll retreat before it attacks.
Pythons in general aren't as aggressive as many other species of snake. Ball pythons are extremely docile and rarely ever bite. Burmese are probably the next calm. Rectics are the most likely to be aggressive; although, despite what someone else said, anacondas are the most aggressive of the large snakes. You rarely find a very tame one of those! They bite like crazy and it often requires stitches afterwards!
Most captive bred snakes are generally not as temperamental as wild snakes.
If you constantly handle them they shouldn't be to aggressive. They are normally considered aggressive because, they get so big. And also since they get so big people think they are more likely to kill. Especially since some like the Anaconda have been none to kill humans.

Reticulated pythons have a bad rep, because if any snake had killed a person it was a wild and extremely big.
But with these and any other snake handling them will make them friendlier. And less likely for them to bite them.

I have a retic his about 7 to 8 ft I just purchased him the pet store always handled it and raised it from a baby. He seems to be tame but none the less I'm still a little iffy! What can I do to reasure he stays that way? Mike email @ mikevivian.mv@Gmail.com Thx.
