Are red tailed boas agressive?

1.do they bite you alot
2.do they bite at all.
Answers:
Theyre not much different than any other boa. They ahve theyre own minds and souls just like any living thing. Theirs no such thing as a breed that bites or doesnt bite. Some pets wont ever even snap at some1 and others may take a hand off as with any animals. Honestly i think my koi's more aggresive than any of my otehr pets : ). If your planning on getting one then get one and see.
they shouldn't be aggresive if they are captive bred but if they were wild caught then ur having a very hard time although snakes have moods just like we do so even captive ones are not 100% bite safe if your planning on getting a snake you should get a ball python they are easier to care for in my point of view and they only grow about 6 feet max.
Most ALL ANIMALS can Bite! Some don't hurt, some hurt a lot, and some will kill you. Most animals bite out of fear or a mistake. Limit both and you should be OK.
Red tails are generally (some can be though) non aggressive and only bite by mistake. Do Not Feed your snake in its home (cage), this will minimize a "mistake".
Be careful, and enjoy with respect.
1. generally Boa's are docile creatures when captive bread. They are more likely to be aggressive when hatchlings/young as they feel more threatened by your presents/interferance.
2. All snakes will bite if prevoked, some take more persuading than others, but never become complacent with a snake, they are unpredictable.
all snakes bite - some more than others, boas are pretty laid back but you still need to be respectfull of it, keep it away from your face etc. - there are times when you are more likely ot be bit such as when they are in shed mode (snake pms) or feed mode -- you should not feed you animal in a separate enclosure because he may get the idea that coming out is food time - and after they eat they are still in feed mode for an hour or two maybe more depending on the animal and getting him back in his enclosure could be a trip! you do not want to be fooling around with a 8 foot boa in feed mode tha is for sure! - but as long as you have proper husbandry and keep a log on your snake to know his cycles you can greatly minimize your chances of being tagged - if you are thinking of getting a snake i would recommend starting with a captive born and bred ball python they average from 4 to 5 feet long and are also a calm easy to handle snake -- with the boa getting up to 9 feet long you have to be prepared to spend more money on housing and food -- as well as cleaning up some pretty large piles of crap! -- and dont let anyone tell you that if you keep them in a small cage they wont grow -- that is total bs --- boas grow slow but they do grow!
you can cut down on chances of being bit when reaching in to get your snake by using a snake hook -- buy one or make one -- i have trained my boas to know that when i touch them on the nose with the hook they are not going to be fed but taken out to be held, cleaned whatever. after a while you can just touch them on the nose with the hook then pick them up with your hand instead of the hook - it works great. overall after you get to know your animal you will be able to tell when it is agravated or hungry by the position it takes in the enclosure when you come near it (strike mode i call it)
if you have a baby boa it wont be as agressive as a 7ft like the one i have. can they bite... sure. will they... no. any snake can bite. but just be slow. any fast moves the snake will think you are pray. so just take it slow. its all about trust my friend.
