Argh. There's a garter snake outside of my door. Help?

Is there any way to get it to go away without me having to move it myself? Please help, I am terrified of snakes.
Answers:
Well, I don't think you'll have to worry about a garter snake. Indeed, it could prove helpful if you don't want to get overrun with rodents. This appears to be a classic case of ophidiophobia (irrational fear of snakes), and I would advise you to let the snake be.
They're harmless. Leave him alone.
Get the broom and just brush him off the porch. Do it quick like a bandaid. You will be just fine and you will be proud of yourself as well. If not, call a neighbor and see if they will move it for you. Good luck.
There is nothing more harmless than a garter snake. Like the other poster said, leave him alone.
well
1) get a hose
2) squirt the silly bugger
3) laugh and appreci8 my evil genius
=D
It won't bother you but if you want him gone give em a little squirt with the hose so he'll slither away.
Just wait and it will slither away. If you can't wait, get a broom and poke it and it will go away. You do know that they're harmless, right? It can't hurt you.
If you wait long enough, it will probably leave. But it can't hurt you.
If you really want it to go away, you could try stomping on the floor really hard - snakes are deaf, but they can feel the vibrations. You could also try flapping a sheet of paper or something at it that might scare it and make it decide to move elsewhere.
just wait for it to go away it will be gone in no time!
First of all, don't worry about it. It can't bite you. Most likely if you walk toward it, or throw water on it, it will slither away.
That is Lord Voldemort!
You are a dead muggle!
quit being a wimp...garter snakes are one of the most harmless but helpful snakes to have around
